Green Hill Gallery SPLIT OPEN Exhibition

identity, connectivity & community

Split Open attempts to take a closer look at the landscape of uncertainty, temporally detached from definite points of orientation. People’s approach to life has changed over the past year. How do the changes in connectivity impact one's understanding of one another and themselves? Do we form our identity dependently, inter-dependently, or independently from others? How correlated or separated are we from our environment?

Presenting an international group of artists, the exhibition depicts a universe in which humankind is being separated, lives are split apart, yet this new reality carries the possibility of discovering the similarities and differences in people, and the need for others in order to see and experience the fullness and beauty that is in
individuals, culture, and community.
Through the medium of installations, videos, paintings, and prints, the exhibition brings together artworks that examine from different angles the nature of relationships, the importance of interaction, the journey of self-discovery, and identity anxiety.

Lucio Cathexis

Medium: Paper

Has Master Degree in Fine Arts. Held numerous solo exhibitions in Berlin and Buenos Aires.

“My pictorial work was born from the self-reflection of our identity and how we perceive our existence.

The goal of my work is to show a simplification of the human being in a primary and pure state. To reach this state a lonely journey into our human condition is necessary, hereby the contemporary world in which we live in has to be given up. A deconstruction of our consciousnesses, a reformulation of ourselves, a microscopic advancement to our existence.”

The attention to detail and the habit of looking at the world with wide eyes taught me how to interact with the world of ideas, to choose and feel those that may be close to many people.”

It happen very naturally that is possible without any artificial effort. I observe them all and try to express the composition and order that they make.”

Sandra E. Blatterer

Medium: Mixed Media

Graduated from the Academy of technical knowledge and event management, studied light design. Held numerous of solo and group exhibitions in Germany.

“In meiner Wahrnehmung wird der Raum selbst zum Sprecher; diesen zu verstärken und zu verstehen, habe ich mir nicht zuletzt mit Lichtkonzepten- und Installationen zur Aufgabe gemacht.

Mir geht es in meinen Arbeiten um eine nachhaltige künstlerische Praxis, die weder in die Dienstbarmachung von Fähigkeiten auspendelt, aber ebenso wenig in die künstlerische Isolation führt.”

Medium: Video, Installation and Oil Painting

Studying Art and Design at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, held a numerous solo and group exhibitions in Turkey.

"In general, my work is shaped around the processes I have experienced. When dealing with a topic, the most important factor is my own experiences, and then I try to weave the conceptual network between thoughts.

My interest in video and motion pictures naturally triggered me to examine the perceptions of duration and time. When I started to research the concept of time and space, my path became a combination of science, art and philosophy.
